Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Lead, the IT Support technician will be responsible to provide day to day Tier 1 IT support and perform technical tasks related to the maintenance of the company’s IT resources including desktop computers, laptops, smartphones and peripherals. The incumbent will Install, configure, test and upgrade computer hardware and software while maintaining computer equipment and performing adjustments and minor repairs as well as providing, document support, repair and project activities through the use of a helpdesk ticketing system.

  • Research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve user problems
  • Ensure end user connectivity with file servers, email servers, and application servers
  • Install, and configure desktop hardware, software and peripherals
  • Maintain IT equipment inventory to track company assets
  • Occasional, ad hoc, weekend server maintenance
  • Provide technical in-person/phone/email/remote support for our users
  • Track all IT incidents and issues using the helpdesk ticketing system and escalate issues to IT Infrastructure Lead when deemed necessary
  • Ask proper questions to retrieve information when diagnosing computer problems with users
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to users
  • Update self-help documents as a means for users to troubleshoot common IT problems
  • Work as part of a team in stressful situations, maintain composure in the face of heavy workload and constant interruptions
Required Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of technical support experience in an office environment of under 100 users
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010-2016 Mac and Windows, Windows 10/8/7, Mac OSX 10.12/10.11, Linux in a core Windows Server Environment
  • Working knowledge of email security, and anti-virus technology and systems
  • Working knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP
  • Ability to stay focused and calm under pressure
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working with people
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot common hardware/software issues
  • Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously, but also be able to communicate and recognize when facing problems that may be too difficult to take on
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to be on call outside of business hours
  • Scripting on Windows and Mac OS is an asset
