SAXX Underwear Co. is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the team based at our Vancouver office.

The Senior Accountant will…

Report to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This role will play an important part in the timely preparation of month-end financial statements. This includes, but not limited to, reconciling GL accounts, posting journal entries and adjustments, preparing sales rep commission statements and payments and providing assistance to the Finance Department to help it meet its deadlines in an accurate and reliable manner. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, strong analytical skills and progressive accounting experience are a must for this position.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist Accounting Manager in producing timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements against budget and previous year
  • Manage cash flow, prepare margin calculation for bank, and forecast cash requirement and report back any deficiencies
  • Reconcile GL accounts, posting journal entries and adjustments
  • Record inter-company transactions and reconcile inter-company accounts and suspense accounts
  • Maintenance of schedules i.e., Prepaid, Deposits, Fixed Assets
  • Ensure inflow of information to Finance department leading to month-end
  • Review A/R GL codes and Revenue accounts to ensure accuracy in GL allocations
  • Review AR Aging and post AR Write offs as requested by Credit Manager
  • Post COGS in ERP
  • Reconcile Amazon Sales, AP/AR intercompany, bonded duty and inventories
  • Prepare and process Government remittances (GST, PST, Corporate tax, Customs duty, State sales tax, etc.) and ensure compliance to respective jurisdictions
  • Support in preparing monthly commission reports, issue payments to reps, and respond to all commission related inquiries
  • Review payroll reports, enter payroll journal entries, reconcile RRSP and other payroll accounts, and prepare related payment
  • Review credits, audit RAs and audit Logistics upcoming shipment
  • Review AP transactions to ensure invoices are entered accurately
  • Review commissions reports to ensure accuracy commission fees are accrued and paid
  • Perform ad hoc projects under the direction of the Accounting Manager

Risk Management

  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage i.e., general commercial and D&O insurance policies in place
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Report risk issues to Accounting Manager

Cash Management

  • Monitor cash balances and manage cash flow, prepare margin calculation for bank and forecast cash requirement and report back any deficiencies
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of finance experience
  • Requires a CPA designation
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to stay focused and calm under pressure
  • Strong computer skills; be a ‘power-user’ with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Build Relationships, communicate effectively, focus on stakeholder needs, foster teamwork, problem solve and be organized
